Embarrassed about what people think of you or your new clothes, haircut, job, or your life goals? Whatever it is, I hope you do feel uncomfortable or care what they might think for two reasons:
1. If you didn’t care what people think you may be a psychopath.
2. Because it probably means you’re doing something that is taking you out of your comfort zone!
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”.
-Neale Donald Walsch
This quote from American Author Neale Donald Walsch sums it up. If you just sit constantly living in fear of something that a group of people or individual think, you’re probably going to live a pretty miserable life because someone always will. Sorry.
Are you the main character or the supporting role?
The answer to the above question is BOTH.
I remember listening to Mark Manson, Author of the ‘Subtle art of not giving a fuck’, talk about how people probably aren’t thinking about you as much as you think they are and for me it was a game changer. This is something that some have called “Main character syndrome”.
This is where, because we are the main character of our narrative(life), that we tend to think that we are the star of the show to everyone else. When you have them self- doubts about the post you’re going to upload or why your friend didn’t like your meme in the group chat, you probably think that they are now laughing at you and thinking what an absolute idiot you are, they might be, or they might be dealing with their own shit and that bang average meme they’ve seen for the 4th time today isn’t a priority to them.
To give you a glimpse of my own experience with this. When I first came up with the idea of pursuing being a writer and starting a blog, I was terrified. Mainly because I did terrible at school with English and barely scraped a pass (as some of you can probably tell by reading this) also because I was exposing myself. Making myself vulnerable for the ridicule of others, all the people I thought would be bitching and laughing about me. Turns out the majority of people were amazing, the support I got when I finally bit the bullet was truly overwhelming.
Of course, there was and will be the odd person to make commenter have some negativity. That’s ALWAYS going to be the case though, but the likelihoods once that person has made that dick comment they are going to move onto someone else and forget all about you.
Take the negativity, assess it, see if you can use it in a positive way and then push it to the side. Don’t let it take up energy you could bemusing on making a better life for yourself.

Thanks for being with me this week and I hope you can take something away from this. I hope that its people are always going to be judging but probably not as much as you think and as much as you worry about. So, with that being said, this week try and do something out of your comfort zone. Post something on social media your proud of, tell someone about your goals and how your going to achieve it, don’t like running? Try a run. Just do one thing to test yourself and once you do it and see that it wasn’t that bad, I bet you’ll start to do more things that you wish you had sooner!
Be the architect of your life.
Again, let's aim to make 2024 the year of transformation!
To your success and growth,
Jack
